Another eclectic and adventurous concept mix project in the collaboration series with my good homie and music aficionado, Roger Jao. This time we went full on Indie-Dream Pop-Shoegaze-Folk-Rock!! There’s no remixes, mashups, or hip-hop beats added underneath, it’s pure indie-folk mixed seamlessly in true DJ fashion. So sit back, gaze at your shoes, and think of a brisk autumn afternoon when the crisp smell of winter wisps through the air, as you transcend into a watercolor memory of the way things were, and the promise of tomorrow.
In case you’re not familiar, Roger Jao has been compiling eclectic, themed playlist and recruiting a handpicked list of DJs, including Jayvon, Just Matter, DJ MZA, and myself to mix them as part of a mega-mix series. I have also done a full Hair Metal mix, an 80s New Wave one, an elcectic Swing-Jazz-Hip-Hop mix, and a secret dark-electronica mix (not in the actual series) called “Apocalypse” that might have been a little too {{{TRIPPY}}} for this collection!

Starship ∆cademy, the new project of Electronic and Hip-Hop veteran DJ SOLO, takes Trapstyle into a new direction. Walking in the footsteps of concept producers such as DJ Shadow, Dan the Automator, and DJ Muggs, this mini concept EP focuses on the lost wisdom of the ancients, visitors from space, and our Universal connection to all things. It’s all woven together in a bass and synth-heavy, trapped-out, layered up tapestry of past present and future sounds. A psychedelic bass trip into the hidden history of the Earth!

[My First time Sungazing @ Summer Camp Festival 2012]
Ever notice how a lack of Sunlight can make people depressed and unhealthy? Recently I was turned on to the ancient art of Sungazing. It’s a lost technique where we are energizing, nourishing, and healing our bodies both physically and spiritually by staring directly into the Sun. Right now you’re probably saying “Won’t this burn out your eyes??” Nope! Along with all the other false information you’ve been told your whole life about how the Universe really works, the Sun produces NO UV rays during the first 45 min of Sunrise and the last 45 min of Sunset. So it’s not only 100% safe and healthy, but a necessary part of human life, just like the plants, that’s been lost over time. Don’t take my word for it, check out the Sungazing documentary (below) and the book “Living On Sunlight” by Hira Ratan Manek, HRM. Even if you’re a skeptic as to the Sun’s healing benefits, getting a direct look at the Sun is an amazing experience that I recommend to everyone. It’s like seeing a giant full moon for the first time!
